How Jackson Lees gathered insights and strengthened employee voice

Jackson Lees Group (part of MAPD Group) are an award-winning, forward-thinking law firm in the North West committed to doing what is right. They have one common mission: to make a positive difference through the practice of law.

As an organisation they understand that their people are their differentiators and that a successful business can – and should – be a fun business too! Their Culture and People team are focused on creating an experience that isn’t found at other law firms.

Jackson Lees Group have been with Stribe for just over a year. Stribe has been used to help the group understand the success of their employee engagement initiatives and the overall engagement of their employees. Using our flexible pulse surveys they incorporated their own ‘MAPD measures’ into their questions – creating an engagement score that reflected the uniqueness of their people and their business.

We caught up with Mairi, their Chief Culture and People Officer, to hear more about their journey with Stribe.

What’s the main purpose of Stribe within Jackson Lees Group?

Mairi: It is really important to us at MAPD and the Jackson Lees Group that our people have a voice, that they are heard and that they know their voice matters. Stribe is one of the ways in which we facilitate this and create a way to amplify the employee voice.

How does Stribe contribute to the bigger picture at Jackson Lees Group? How are you adapting the business using the feedback you’ve received from Stribe?

Mairi: We are continually evolving our business and over just the last few months we have used Stribe to hear from people about hybrid working and our Learning culture, as well as getting their input into some decision-making around our Benefits strategy. These are big ticket items that make a huge difference to people’s lives.

The flexibility of Stribe and the unlimited number of times we can use it is a huge plus for us – it is an integral part of our thinking.

How have you found working with the team at Stribe?

Mairi:  The team at Stribe really live out the values of their product – they listen, they give their clients a voice and they take action on the back of the feedback.

Chief Culture and People Officer, Jackson Lees Group

Why did you choose Stribe as your employee engagement partner?

Mairi: MAPD stands for Making a positive difference and, from our very first conversation, we knew that our businesses were a great fit with a similar ethos. This coupled with the flexibility of the model made it an obvious partner.

What made you look for a tool like Stribe in the first place? Could you describe exactly what was going on at the time?

Mairi: We had worked with other partners but the restriction on the number of times we could survey or ask questions was really frustrating and didn’t facilitate on-going communication or allow us any level of flexibility.

What do you think is the key to a happy team?

Mairi: At an organisational level, if you can create an environment where people feel comfortable to speak, where they have a forum to speak and where their voice is heard, you have a solid foundation for a happy, productive group who can make a positive difference to themselves, to each other and to their clients and communities.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about taking on Stribe?

Mairi: When you start to work with Stribe, you start to work with a team who really care about your objectives and your goals and will work tirelessly with you to achieve them. What’s not to like about that!
