HRambles – Acknowledgement of Risk
We’re so pleased you’re joining us for HRambles – a walking event designed for HR and People professionals to connect, reflect, and walk together.
This acknowledgement is here to help you understand the nature of the event and your responsibilities when attending. While our walks are friendly and informal, your safety and wellbeing are important to us. Please read this carefully before taking part.
1. What this covers
By signing up to join HRambles, you acknowledge that:
- You are participating in a group walk in outdoor and public spaces.
- You are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing throughout the event.
- You understand that walking, even in urban or accessible areas, carries some risks – including uneven surfaces, changing weather conditions, and proximity to water or roads.
2. Your responsibilities
By attending HRambles, you agree to:
- Dress appropriately for the walk and weather (e.g., comfortable footwear, layers, raincoat or sunscreen).
- Bring anything you might need for your comfort and safety (e.g., water, medication, snacks).
- Let us know about any medical conditions, injuries or access needs when you sign up or ahead of the event – we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
- Avoid attending under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Participate respectfully and in the spirit of the event – HRambles is about connection, not selling or self-promotion.
3. Nature of the event
Each HRambles walk will vary in length and location – but may include:
- Canal paths, parks, pavements, urban or rural routes
- Uneven ground, steps, or narrow sections
- Exposure to weather – walks will go ahead in most conditions unless deemed unsafe
Final walk details (including route and meeting point) will be shared ahead of each event. If you’re unsure whether a walk is right for you, please get in touch.
4. Risk and liability
By attending HRambles, you confirm that:
- You are taking part voluntarily and at your own risk.
- HRambles organisers cannot accept responsibility for any injury, illness, accident, or loss of property incurred during the event, unless caused by our negligence.
- You accept full responsibility for yourself and any guests, children, or animals in your care.
5. Emergencies
Participants are encouraged to carry emergency contact details with them. In the event of an incident, organisers will respond as needed and may contact emergency services if required.
6. Photography and filming
We may take photographs during the walk to use in HRambles communications (such as social media or newsletters). If you’d prefer not to appear in any photos, just let us know on the day.
7. Our commitment
We will always aim to:
- Choose safe, accessible routes and communicate clearly ahead of time
- Offer support or adjustments where possible
- Create a relaxed, welcoming space where HR and People professionals can connect meaningfully
By confirming your attendance, you acknowledge these terms and accept responsibility for your participation in HRambles.
